We heard about a documentary being made following Rio Ferdinand a year after losing his wife to cancer as he tries to come to terms with the loss and its effects on him and his three children. As part of a series of portraits to do with mental health issues we met Rio at his home and he was incredibly generous with his time to give us access for half a day. We wanted to get something a little different of him, to show his more vulnerable side, as he was so brave in the documentary. I’ve done a few shoots with him over the years and he is a class act in all aspects. A true gent.
